Lionel MUNIGLIA

After his Ph-D thesis completed in 2001, Lionel MUNIGLIA focused his research work on enzymatic catalysis to develop sustainable processes dedicated to extraction and synthesis of biomolecules. His work is done within the French National Superior School of Agronomy and Food Industries (ENSAIA) where he obtained apposition as Assistant Professor. A few years later, a green process for fractionation of plant raw material is improved and patented. While many valuable applications seem possible, he created the BIOLIE Company in 2012 to apply the process industrially. On the principle of the biorefinery, BIOLIE offers a full valorization of plant raw materials processed: oils, proteins, sugars, polyphenols in a safe and sustainable way. His work also contributes to developing processes of enzymatic biosynthesis with specialty for oxidases and in particular laccases. Numerous derivatives of phenolic compounds can be produced in an aqueous phase with a variety of applications such as the production of dyes nature-identical or functionalization of biopolymer like chitosan. Today, Lionel Muniglia provides the scientific management of the company BIOLIE and continues his research work for the Laboratory of Biomolecules Engineering (LIBio) from the University of Lorraine on enzyme catalysis and the development of "green" sustainable processes.
